The Marine component of HIMIOFoTS (Hellenic Integrated Marine Observing and Forecasting system) is coordinated by the Institute of Oceanography-HCMR and consists by a marine observatory with several monitoring platforms that provide near real time data and a suite of numerical models that produce short term forecasts for atmospheric, wave and hydrodynamic conditions of the marine environment. During the project’s lifetime, several actions have been planned such as the operational support of the whole marine infrastructure, the upgrade of the monitoring and forecasting components of the system, the link with coastal zone management activities, the case study regarding the implementation of a world class tank for marine structures. The HIMIOFoTS marine component consists by five research and academic institutions.
